Celebrity hairstylist Marcos Carrasquillo recently worked with singer and actor Jencarlos Canela, and singer, actress and entrepreneur Sissi Fleitas who are featured in the popular Latin American series “Un Dia Con…” that airs on Fashion TV. Marcos was in charge of hair styling for Jencarlos and Sissi for their respective shootings while Qiu Salon makeup artists, Xochilt Dueñas and Yoandra Blanco, were in charge of makeup.
The show follows different Latin American celebrities and other prominent personalities, providing the audience with an intimate look at the life of a superstar for a 24-hour period. “Un Dia Con…” airs every Wednesday on Fashion TV throughout Latin America.
Once again, celebrity hairstylist Marcos Carrasquillo and his talented team from Qiu Salon were part of this year’s edition of the youth award ceremony, Premios Juventud. The team from Qiu was responsible for the hair and make up of superstars Luis Fonsi and Tito “El Bambino.”
Singer/songwriter Luis Fonsi was the most prominent star of the evening, taking home a record 10 prizes in the Music, Fashion and Style and Pop Culture categories. He also took the stage to present his new single, ‘Llueve Por Dentro,” in one of the most powerful performances of the evening in which he combined live pyrotechnics and on-stage rainfall. Marcos Carrasquillo was the hairstylist behind Fonsi’s image, while Yoandra Blanco served as makeup artist.
Another superstar that shone during the award ceremony was Reggaeton icon Tito “El Bambino” whose performance of his smash hit “El Amor” was one of the best received presentations of the event. Qiu team member Joey Nieves was responsible for Tito’s hairstyle while Xochilt Dueñas was the makeup artist.
The funds raised will benefit children living in extreme poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean
Doral-based hair salon and day spa, Qiu Salon, and non-profit organization, Mision Child, recently joined to present “Maraton de Corte y Secado de Cabello”, a fundraising event to support educational programs that help children living in extreme poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean. The fundraiser that took place at Qiu Salon facilities in Doral raised more than $1,200. The money will be used to provide meals (breakfasts and lunches) for 300 students in Colombia for two weeks.
Qiu’s owner and creative director, Marcos Carrasquillo, was supported by his team of hair professionals including, Xochilt Dueñas, Lidia Fuentes, Nelly Anaya, Yoandra Blanco, Natali Pouchet and Katiuska Vargas. “It’s been a great experience to join with Mision Child for this special event. We have a moral responsibility to help children to break the poverty cycle and to provide them with the tools and elements necessary to obtain a better life. By providing them with healthy meals and education, we open a door to a brighter future and better opportunities,” stated Marcos.

From the onset, Marcos stood out for his creativity, his technique and his ability to create unique designs. This was all apparent from his very first job. Marcos launched his career in 1998, when he was only 15 years old, working as a barber. He immediately stood out for his talent and dexterity. Later, he decided to broaden his knowledge and began to study and perfect his art by also working on women.
