The funds raised will benefit children living in extreme poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean
Doral-based hair salon and day spa, Qiu Salon, and non-profit organization, Mision Child, recently joined to present “Maraton de Corte y Secado de Cabello”, a fundraising event to support educational programs that help children living in extreme poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean. The fundraiser that took place at Qiu Salon facilities in Doral raised more than $1,200. The money will be used to provide meals (breakfasts and lunches) for 300 students in Colombia for two weeks.
Qiu’s owner and creative director, Marcos Carrasquillo, was supported by his team of hair professionals including, Xochilt Dueñas, Lidia Fuentes, Nelly Anaya, Yoandra Blanco, Natali Pouchet and Katiuska Vargas. “It’s been a great experience to join with Mision Child for this special event. We have a moral responsibility to help children to break the poverty cycle and to provide them with the tools and elements necessary to obtain a better life. By providing them with healthy meals and education, we open a door to a brighter future and better opportunities,” stated Marcos.
